Full Job Description
The post will focus on gaining clinical, endoscopic and research experience in advanced inflammatory bowel disease by working in a tertiary referral centre. We manage ~11,000 patients across the city of Manchester. Clinics are a mix of new and follow cases, supported by an established team of experienced IBD Consultants, IBD nurses, colorectal surgeons, IBD pharmacists, psychologist and dedicated IBD administrators. A range of endoscopy sessions are offered, upper and lower diagnostic and therapeutic focusing on IBD diseases, small bowel and colon capsule endoscopy.
The candidate will be encouraged to contribute to IBD research across 10 hospitals in Manchester, supported by the Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, Manchester Clinical Research Facility, Clinical Data Science Unit and all supported by EPIC, electronic patient record system
Core activities:
+ 5+ weekly IBD clinics
+ Combined specialty clinics (IBD-surgical, IBD-obstetric, transition)
+ A developing IBD Hot Clinic
+ Nurse-led helplines and virtual pathways
+ Full modern endoscopy provision: capsule endoscopy, balloon enteroscopy, dysplasia surveillance, therapeutic endoscopy
+ Weekly Virtual Biologic Clinics reviewing patients on advanced therapies
The ideal candidate is a senior trainee or newly accredited specialist with MRCP(UK), GMC registration and strong general gastroenterology and endoscopy experience. The post holder will have a clear commitment to IBD through clinical exposure, audit or research is desirable, hold excellent communication skills, teamwork and leadership potential are essential, as is confidence using digital systems such as EPR platforms.
