The Manchester Oncoplastic Fellowship is flexible and designed according to the needs of the individual trainee. The Nightingale Breast Centre is one of the largest units in Europe. We treat > 1000 screening and symptomatic cancers per year. We offer the full range of oncoplastic breast surgical procedures. Microsurgical breast reconstruction is offered by the Plastic Surgery Department. We work closely with Oncology at Christie Hospital. In addition, we have a large Family History / Genetics Department and perform a large volume of risk reducing breast surgery.

One-stop and follow up clinics provide ample opportunity to see new and follow up patients. There are regular joint oncoplastic clinics attended by Breast and Plastic Surgeons, for patients requiring more complex breast reconstruction or revisional surgery.

The fellow will be supported in developing skills in the full range of oncoplastic breast procedures. This includes implant-based reconstruction, therapeutic mammaplasty, local chest wall perforator flaps and latissimus dorsi flaps. There is ample opportunity for exposure to microsurgical autologous techniques, including DIEP and TUG flaps with our Plastic Surgery colleagues. There is also the opportunity to develop skills in mastopexy, reduction and augmentation for symmetrisation or developmental breast problems. Outside of fellowship commitments, fellows are invited to assist consultants in the private to gain experience in aesthetic breast surgery.
