Patent Foramen Ovale Closure

We are a commissioned centre for PFO closure and have had a flourishing service since 2019. Over 2024, we did 142 PFO closure procedures and are one of the highest volume centres in the UK. We pride ourselves on minimal X-ray exposure to patient and staff with the procedure being done predominantly with the assistance of intracardiac echocardiography (ICE). The fellow will have opportunities to partake in a regular weekly PFO closure list and clinic. There is an alternative week MDT during which the fellow will present cases and facilitate discussion. We expect our fellow, by the end of their year, to be proficient in both the procedure and ICE use. We all expect them to learn all the fundamental aspects of running a PFO service.
