This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Learning Disability and Autism Practitioner to join the East London CAMHS Alternatives To Admission Pathway for a 12-month pilot programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting autistic children and young people and those with learning disabilities who are experiencing a mental health crisis, helping to reduce avoidable admissions, improve patient outcomes and embed specialist neurodevelopmental practice across crisis services. The role combines direct clinical work, consultation, training, service development and partnership working across health, social care and education settings.,

  • Provide specialist assessment, intervention and crisis support for autistic children and young people and those with learning disabilities.
  • Support admission avoidance and facilitate safe discharge from inpatient services where appropriate.
  • Offer specialist advice, consultation and support to multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies.
  • Promote person-centred, trauma-informed care, reasonable adjustments and positive behaviour support approaches.
  • Deliver training and coaching to improve staff knowledge, confidence and skills.
  • Work collaboratively with families, education, social care and healthcare partners to improve outcomes for children and young people.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement and evaluation activities.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
