Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting a Senior Laboratory Technician to assist with the smooth running of the Science Department whilst adhering to all legislative requirements in relation to Health and Safety.

Day to day tasks include co-ordinating and advising on the use of practical resources to meet the needs of the science curriculum, including liaising with teaching staff and support staff outside the Department. You will also line manage two Laboratory Technicians within the team.

This post is a varied and busy role and will require someone who is highly organised, is approachable and willing to deal with a variety of tasks with a 'can do' and flexible approach to work. Ideally you will have a formal science qualification and be able to demonstrate a good technical expertise to support the Chemistry curriculum. Experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage but is not essential.

The Senior School has excellent facilities, and we have small classes to enable focus on individual students. A Level, BTEC and GCSE results are consistently excellent, enabling most students to gain their first choice of university.

We are committed to ongoing personal development, and with management training and sponsored learning programmes, we can help you to achieve your professional goals.

This is a full-time role working 8.00am to 4.00pm, term time only plus ten days.

Closing date: 9am, Friday 8 May 2026.

Interviews planned for week commencing 11 May 2026

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We value diversity and welcome applications from all backgrounds. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all staff and pupils.
