Full Job Description

As a Senior Home Support Assistant, you will provide practical and emotional support to adults living in their own homes, Extra Care settings and community environments. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support people to maximise their independence, improve their wellbeing and achieve the outcomes identified within their care and support plans.

You will also provide guidance and support to Home Support Assistants, assist with day-to-day operational duties, monitor service quality and promote best practice across the service.

This is a rewarding and varied role where no two days are the same. You'll work closely with service users, families, carers, social workers, therapists, nurses and other professionals to deliver high-quality, compassionate care tailored to individual needs.

What You'll Do

Your key responsibilities will include:

Supporting adults with personal care, medication administration, meal preparation and daily living activities.

Providing guidance and support to Home Support Assistants working within the community.

Working collaboratively with health and social care professionals as part of an integrated care approach.

Supporting people to regain and maintain independence through rehabilitation and enablement activities. Monitoring service users' wellbeing and reporting significant changes or emerging risks.

Completing risk assessments and maintaining accurate electronic records. Promoting dignity, choice, privacy and person-centred care at all times.

Supporting safe medication practices and ensuring compliance with service procedures.

Contributing to safeguarding adults by recognising and responding appropriately to concerns.

Assisting managers with operational responsibilities and promoting high standards of care delivery.

You will bring:

RQF Level 2 qualification in Care (or equivalent, such as NVQ Level 2).

At least two years' experience supporting vulnerable adults within a domiciliary care setting.

Good understanding of health and safety within service users' homes.

Awareness of Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and expectations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work independently and use initiative when assessing situations. Strong commitment to promoting independence, dignity and respect.

Experience of maintaining accurate records and reporting concerns appropriately.

A willingness to undertake further training and work towards a Level 3 qualification in Care.

Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Essential Requirement:

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Ability to travel across the Sandwell borough.
