Full Job Description

Cherry Ward provides specialist, person-centred care for older adults with complex physical, cognitive and social needs. The primary aim is to optimise health outcomes, maintain dignity and independence, and support safe and timely discharge back to the community or appropriate care setting. Patients on the ward are often frail and may present with multiple long-term conditions, acute illness, reduced mobility, delirium, dementia or recovery following falls. The ward operates in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover, requiring effective teamwork, prioritisation and clinical decision-making.   • Assist the registered practitioner in providing high-quality, compassionate care and assistance to patients/relatives and their carers, appropriate to their needs.
  • Be responsible for carrying out tasks as delegated by the registered practitioner, who has overall accountability for delegating care.
  • Provide pastoral support to new starters to the ward in a kind and compassionate manner.
  • Use their own initiative within the level of competence to complete day-to-day activities for the role.
  • Comply with the Trust's vision, values and behavioural framework.
