Full Job Description
Join one of the UK's leading school equestrian centres as a Senior Groom, working within a professional, high-performing yard of up to 40 horses, supported by excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to take on a key role within a dynamic team, supporting both high standards of horse care and the delivery of a successful student equestrian programme. The role Working closely with the Stable Manager, you will play a central role in the day-to-day running of the yard, combining hands-on horse care, team leadership, and operational responsibility. You will:
- Support the smooth daily operation of a busy, professional yard
- Supervise and guide a team of grooms, maintaining high standards
- Deliver exceptional horse care, welfare and stable management
- Support students with the care and management of their horses
- Contribute to a professional livery service and maintain strong client relationships
- Take full responsibility in the absence of the Stable Manager for yard operations, including team management, communication with vets, farriers and clients, and responding appropriately to horse health issues
- Ensure horses, equipment and vehicles are fully prepared for competitions and events About you We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in a professional equestrian environment (minimum 5 years)
- Qualified to BHS Stage 3 (minimum)
- Confident handling fit competition horses
- Knowledgeable in horse nutrition, fitness and welfare
- Experienced in supervising or mentoring staff
- Organised, proactive and able to lead by example
- A strong communicator, comfortable working with students, parents and clients You will bring a positive, team-focused attitude and the ability to maintain high standards in a busy and varied environment. Working hours & package
- Full-time, year-round role (average 48 hours per week)
- Term time: approx. 6.45am - 6.30pm, 5 days per week
- Non-term time: approx. 7.30am - 5.30pm, 5 days per week
- Weekend rota required
- Salary: £32,033 per annum Additional benefits include:
- On-site accommodation available for a monthly fee (ensuite with shared facilities)
- Opportunity to keep your own horse on site (subject to availability) following successful completion of probation, for a monthly fee
- Freshly prepared lunches for only £10.30 per month
