Senior Fellow in Paediatric Spinal Surgery

The post holder will be assigned to a consultant once appointed and will work predominately with one/two consultants. Although it is expected that you will assist and cross cover other clinics and theatre lists as appropriate. Applicants are encouraged to discuss the timetable and duties with the current post holder and the consultants on appointment.

This timetable contains essentially all the activities currently taking place within the unit. The postholder will be encouraged to take part in all the activities offered within the department, particularly the theatre lists when clinic commitments permit.

Training received as part of the 6-month standalone post is not recognised by the SAC for Orthopaedic Surgery. It is however equivalent in content to the complementary 6m which forms part of the 12m fellowship post which is a SAC approved post.

In addition to training provided in clinics, ward rounds and in the operating theatre, other opportunities will be provided by attendance at teaching sessions. There is an induction programme for junior staff.

Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit Senior Fellows in Spinal Surgery. We have posts that will commence from August 2027 for a period of 12 months. These posts are fixed term in order to provide the successful candidates with specific training competencies in Spinal Surgery.

The aim of the posts is to provide the holders with sub-specialty research & training in all aspects of paediatric/adolescent spinal surgery. Applicants should be looking to pursue a career in spinal surgery.

Applicants must have full registration with the GMC and fulfill the entry criteria for higher surgical training, which includes the satisfactory completion of basic surgical training (or equivalent).
