Full Job Description

  • Supervision of ground investigation crews, including cable percussion, rotary, and window sampling crews
  • Trial pitting
  • Logging of soil and rock to BS5930 / Eurocode 7
  • Groundwater and gas monitoring
  • Production of Phase 1 Desk Studies
  • Assistance in the preparation of Factual and Interpretive Reports
  • Good Project Management skills

    Experience within the industry
  • A geology / earth sciences degree, or a master's degree in engineering geology or geotechnical engineering
  • A full UK driving license
  • Willing to travel and work away from home
  • Be within a reasonable travelling distance of your office base, or be prepared to re-locate
  • CSCS Card & First Aid Training
  • SSSTS

    • Ian Farmer Associates, a member of RSK Group Ltd, is a geotechnical and geo-environmental site investigation company with offices covering the majority of the United Kingdom. It is further supported by a fully accredited UKAS laboratory and together with the Geosciences division of RSK, the company makes RSK Group one of the UK's largest site investigation service providers. Due to continued growth and some exciting new projects, Ian Farmer Associates are growing and need an experienced Senior Engineering Geologist to help with an exciting and varied new project workload in a growing office. Details of the position are below, We are one of the leading ground investigation businesses in the UK. With offices throughout the UK, we can provide our geotechnical and environmental investigation techniques and services to clients throughout the country. These services are offered from each regional location, fully supported by an experienced team of civil engineers and geologists. Services include soil exploration by percussion boring, window sampling and mechanical excavation and rock exploration by rotary drilling and coring. Additionally, specialists are available, including materials technologists and on-site chemists, who can undertake associated testing and monitoring services and in situ tests such as plate loading, California bearing ratio and density, including nuclear density testing. The company's materials technology and construction engineering service operates throughout the United Kingdom, undertaking and reporting on structural and condition surveys, BREEAM assessments and asbestos surveys. Its experience includes working on buildings, multistorey car parks, bridges, roads and other structures, such as sludge digesters to determine the effects of ageing, corrosion and degradation on structural stability. The company is approved for working in confined spaces and undertaking in situ testing that includes floor load tests and strain measurements.
