Full Job Description

  • You will help optimise the network flows and their resiliency & availability between the distributed research computing in both central data centres, departmental spaces and colos.
  • Manage the AI & Scientific computing generated data flows between our users and our clusters/clouds and their dedicated storage, our distributed Ceph storage accessible to clusters and users, and to internal/external collaborators using transfer services such as Globus.

    Ideally have experience deploying and/or interpreting research network flow instrumentation such as PerfSonar to optimise end to end performance for data intensive flows
  • Understand how to optimise the network flows and underlying network architecture for both high-bandwidth and low-latency local and international large scale data transfers
  • Have undertaken network automation using tools such as Python, Ansible, IaaC, Git etc.
  • Have experience of working in a research environment (e.g., University, supporting data-intensive workloads, etc.)
