Full Job Description

Do you enjoy negotiating agreements, building strong business relationships and helping turn new opportunities into successful outcomes? At MASS, you'll be part of a team supporting a specialist technology business, where good commercial decisions play an important part in winning work and delivering projects for highly secure customers.
As our Senior Commercial Officer, you'll work alongside colleagues across the business, supporting bids and proposals, negotiating commercial agreements and helping teams navigate contractual challenges. It's a varied role where your commercial knowledge and judgement will help protect MASS's interests and support our continued success.
What you'll be doing
You'll support a range of commercial activities, from contributing to bids and proposals to negotiating agreements with customers and suppliers. Working with teams across MASS, you'll help resolve contractual challenges, support projects through delivery and ensure commercial risks and obligations are properly managed. You'll also contribute to more complex agreements and help ensure export control requirements are met.
Where you'll work
Based at our head office in Little Paxton, St Neots, you'll report to the Head of Commercial and Procurement and work closely with teams across MASS. We offer a hybrid arrangement, with three days on-site and two days working from home each week.
How you'll support us
You'll help MASS secure new opportunities, build effective partnerships and deliver projects successfully, protecting our commercial interests along the way.
The invaluable experience you'll bring, to help us achieve more

You'll bring sound commercial judgement, strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the business. You'll be comfortable working with different stakeholders, balancing commercial priorities and finding practical solutions to contractual challenges.
Essential experience
Experience in a commercial or contract management role.
Proven experience negotiating, managing and amending commercial contracts.
Experience building and maintaining effective business relationships.
An understanding of business finance, including profit and loss, margins, mark-up, escalation and foreign exchange.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade others.
The ability to work independently when required, manage competing priorities and promote good commercial practice.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable experience
A degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in Law or a business-related subject.
An understanding of export control and compliance, including UK export control requirements and ITAR.
What else we're looking for
We're looking for someone with a positive, proactive approach who is keen to develop their knowledge, share ideas and contribute to the wider Commercial team.
Our non-negotiables
Due to the highly secure nature of the projects you'll be involved with, you must be:
A UK National and eligible to work in the UK.
Eligible to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance as a minimum.
