A vacancy has become available for a permanent specialist Clinical Technologist/Medical Engineer within the Dialysis Technical Services team at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. Join the team to be part of the Nephrology & Transplant Directorate and support patients on Renal Replacement Therapy through maintenance and repair of essential dialysis machines within inpatient, satellite dialysis units settings as well as for home therapies patients., A specialist Clinical Technologist/Medical Engineer within the Dialysis Technical Services team at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board will have the ability and experience to handle any of the complex day to day technical problems and work tasks related to the maintenance, repair, calibration, clinical support and giving of advice relevant to a broad range of Medical equipment.
The post holder will be expected to deal directly with patients and will at all times have to communicate complex equipment related issues to relevant stakeholders, for example clinical colleagues, patients, carers. The post holder will operate with a high degree of individual responsibility and may be the lead technologist for a particular type of equipment or for providing services to a particular clinical area. The post holder will have the skill, ability and breadth of experience and knowledge to be able to deal with the complex and unexpected situations that arise.
In addition, the post holder will be required to participate in an emergency out of hours on call system, providing cover to all Hospital areas and particularly support to home patients, requiring a higher level of initiative and responsibility.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
