Full Job Description

We are looking for someone to join us at Sheffield Children's, providing support to our Paediatric Disorders of Sexual Development (DSD) service. You will become part of a well-established, supportive team that provides regional and national specialist services across a range of paediatric and neurodevelopmental areas. You will deliver ward-based assessments and interventions within a well-established acute medical multidisciplinary setting, and offer valuable support to other acute services across the Trust. You will also provide supervision and contribute to the ongoing development of Paediatric Psychology and hospital-wide projects., Reporting into the Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct specialist psychological assessments for clients referred to the DSD team, using a variety of data sources, including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, observations, and interviews with clients and involved parties.
  • Take autonomous professional responsibility for implementing psychological treatment and management plans based on a conceptual framework, considering the family and wider system.
  • Deliver a range of psychological interventions to individuals, carers, families, and groups, adapting formulations and drawing on multiple explanatory models.
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, considering theoretical and therapeutic models, along with complex historical and developmental factors affecting the individual, family, or group.

    DClinPsy qualification
  • Registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist
  • Experience working with children with health conditions is desirable, as is working with those experiencing DSD
