Senior Clinical Hand and Wrist Fellow in Orthopaedics

University Hospitals Dorset is looking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in Hand and Wrist Surgery. The 12 month fellowship is supervised by Miss Joanna Higgins and Jeremy Southgate.
We are principally recruiting for fellows to commence in September 2026but will consider applicants for future opportunities if deemed suitable at the point of interview., The post holder will be employed in the Trauma & Orthopaedic Directorate, working betweenBournemouth Hospital (elective), Wimborne Hospital (elective) and Poole Hospital (trauma). All aspects of elective and traumatic conditions affecting the hand and wrist are covered betweenthe two sites. These include wrist fracture fixation, scaphoid surgery to include non-unions, softtissue hand trauma, arthroplasty of the small joints of the hand, thumb base and wrist, arthroscopicwrist surgery and nerve decompression. The full range of hand and wrist surgery is covered, withpotential to spend time in The Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby (up to two weeks every six months) to covercongenital hand, flap reconstruction and flexor tendon surgery.The aim of this fellowship is to offer particular emphasis on the training and quality improvement inhand and wrist surgery, both elective and trauma. There will be weekend working expected in this role.
