Senior Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery (ST3+ equivalent)

The vacancy has arisen within the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Northern Vascular Centre, based at the Freeman Hospital, for a period of 12 months initially., The successful applicant will provisionally work a 1 in 8 vascular on-call rota. The post would suit experienced registrars who wish to train further in both general & complex sub-specialist Vascular practice; it may be possible to tailor the post to the individual prior to appointment as a Consultant on discussion with the department. There are opportunities to perform research and to learn advanced open and endovascular techniques in aortic, venous and peripheral work. The Freeman Vascular unit specialises in suprarenal aortic surgery, joint cardiothoracic and vascular aortic work, complex EVAR and aortic dissection, as well as offering advanced, complex lower limb treatments and a regional deep venous service. Applicants should possess full GMC registration and possession of the Intercollegiate Examination in General or Vascular Surgery is desirable, but not essential. Salary will be at an appropriate point on the ST3+ pay scale., This post, available from January 2027, is based within the Northern Vascular Centre, Freeman Hospital. The Northern Vascular Centre provides care to patients from Newcastle, Gateshead and Northumberland as well as tertiary level care to patients from across the North East, Cumbria and further afield. The post holders will work on the specialist registrar tier and as such be expected to perform duties and take clinical responsibility to this level.
