Senior / Chief Cardiac Physiologist - Invasive / CRM

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Senior Cardiac Physiologist (Band 6)/Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Band 7) - depending on experience for Devices/Invasive.

As a Devices Physiologist you will undertake Pacemaker and ICD procedures, including implantation procedures, devices follow ups and home monitoring reviews.

All applicants need to have, as a minimum, independence for bradycardia pacing (implant and follow up) and independence in basic cardiac angiography. Applications will be considered for those with the required minimum skill set looking to obtain experience in other aspects of the role., Demonstrate competence in the full range of cardiac investigations carried out by the department including supervision and training of staff of all levels from cardiographers and nurses to registrars and consultants.

To perform this role, specialist knowledge in cardiac rhythm management, specifically cardiac implantable electronic devices and basic cardiac catheterisation is required.

Perform a wide range of multidisciplinary highly complex cardiology investigations, with advanced knowledge in invasive cardiology and have the ability to disseminate highly sensitive clinical information appropriately to nurses, care homes, patients and relatives.

Pacemaker implants and will analyse device and patient interaction. Based on this analysis, the post holder will report to the implanting physician suitability (or otherwise) of electrode position(s).

Carry out implantable device follow up clinics using dedicated device programmers and remote monitoring platforms, write comprehensive reports, make, and independently instigate pacemaker/device therapy prescriptions based on clinical findings and escalate any abnormal findings to the appropriate personnel.

To attend to perform ICD/CRT-D deactivations and device reprogramming independently. To undertake ECG observation of patients during deactivation or reprogramming independently, as and when required as per the clinical need.
