Full Job Description
This is an an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist service, and work with the wider regional severe asthma multidisciplinary team. The post holder will work as a member of the well-established difficult asthma team at Russells Hall Hospital to provide ongoing support for patients under the care of the service. This is a unique and exciting job role within a proactive and forward-thinking team.
The post holder will work alongside nursing and physiotherapy staff within the hospital setting to provide specialist support to patients with difficult and severe asthma.
The post holder will be required to demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm and passion for the delivery of high quality, patient focused care for patients who attend both clinics and exercise programmes and will have responsibility to provide a high quality, responsive and seamless service to patients. The role involves supporting the team in clinical assessment and delivery of exercise programmes (under the supervision of the physiotherapist) to patients who are established on biologic therapies, and those under the care of the difficult asthma service. The post holder will also assist the team, ensuring the implementation of appropriate treatments, to contribute to admission avoidance strategies and ultimately improve quality of life for patients., This will involve working alongside the consultant team, the service co-ordinator, the nursing team and the physiotherapist in ward areas, outpatient clinics and day-case clinics, recording vital signs, taking bloods, performing ECG's where required, and supporting the physiotherapist with health promotion activities in the form of exercise programmes, and providing some follow up appointments, to ensure patients are managing with exercises and equipment. The post holder will be supported to learn these roles within the service and will be offered in-house training opportunities to help further their knowledge and expertise in respiratory care.
