Senior Advanced Clinical Practitioner

As an ACP, you willdemonstrate safe, autonomous, and evidence-based clinical decision-making, working collaboratively with Emergency Department consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient-centred care. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking comprehensive patient assessments, applying advanced diagnostic reasoning, formulating treatment plans, and managing patient care across a wide range of acute presentations. You will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their emergency care journey whilst ensuring adherence to Trust policies, procedures, and professional standards. Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy clinical setting. Beyond direct patient care, you will be an influential leader in service development and quality improvement. You will contribute to education, research, audit, and innovation initiatives, helping to shape and enhance the future delivery of emergency care services. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient outcomes while supporting the continued development of the Emergency Department and the wider organisation., The postholder will work autonomously to deliver expert, patient-centred, evidence-based care, using advanced specialist knowledge and skills to meet the needs of their patient group. They will demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and resilience while providing senior clinical leadership and operational oversight within their specialty. Key responsibilities include managing patient flow and identifying appropriate escalation, de-escalation, or alternative care pathways; contributing to specialist education programmes; and providing clinical supervision, teaching, and support to multidisciplinary team members, including Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) at all stages of development. The role may also involve managing and developing ACP staff through recruitment, appraisal, performance management, and retention activities. Additionally, the postholder will address complaints and concerns, promote learning from incidents, and lead or contribute to quality improvement initiatives, service development, research, and audit activities to enhance patient care and service delivery.
