Full Job Description

Are you an experienced administrator with people management skills, ready for an exciting new challenge? The Youth Support Team is looking for someone to join us on a part-time, fixed-term basis, providing maternity cover for up to 12 months. This is a brilliant opportunity to grow your career in a varied, fast-paced and rewarding role. You will lead the Business Support function, support and manage a small team of Business Administrators, and work closely with the Business Lead Administrator and Senior Administrators across the wider service. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supporting the delivery of high-quality Business Support tasks
  • Providing supervision, guidance and Personal Development Reviews for team members
  • Supporting effective performance, wellbeing and absence management
  • Allocating, tracking and quality-checking work to ensure excellent service delivery
  • Using data and insight to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement
  • Contributing to bespoke projects that improve ways of working across the service

You will be a proactive, organised and approachable leader with strong communication skills and the confidence to work with Service Leads, attend management meetings and deliver training to Team Administrators. You will be able to balance competing priorities, manage deadlines and maintain strong oversight of processes, performance and quality. If you enjoy supporting people, improving systems and being part of a team that makes a genuine difference, we would love to hear from you. Tell us why you are the right person for this role and what you will bring to our team., We want to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining excellent people to work for us, so that we can best serve all of Gloucestershire's diverse communities. Our promise to you is that we will provide an inclusive and supportive working environment that enables you to bring your whole self to work and realise your full potential.
  • It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English. Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.

Would you like to work in a role which is both meaningful and rewarding, where you really feel that you make a difference? Do you constantly look for ways to improve the way you work and enhance the service that you deliver? If so, this is the perfect role for you. This is an exciting time to join Gloucestershire County Council, as Children's Social Care continues to focus on providing creative, strengths-based and person-centred practice. By working together, we are committed to making a real difference to children, families and communities across Gloucestershire. We are an agile and inclusive organisation, offering a blend of office-based and home working, with essential equipment provided. We value diversity, wellbeing and flexibility, and we are committed to helping our people grow. You will be supported through Continued Professional Development and encouraged to develop your skills, confidence and career within Children's Services.

In return we will offer you:
  • Regular formal and informal support.
  • Safe, supportive and positive working environment with regular, robust supervision.
  • Access to relevant training and career progression.
  • Annual leave of 25.5 days (pro rata) up to 30.5 days (pro rata) after 5 years employment.
  • Family friendly employer offering benefits to support you and your family.
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Staff discount scheme that offers access to great savings including discounts with major supermarket chains and high street retailers.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that provides free, confidential, counselling and advice for employees, available 24 hours a day, online and by telephone.
  • An in-house Occupational Health service.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Links to employee networks such as Prism (LGBT+) network and the Young Employees Network.
  • Gloucestershire Salary Sacrifice Green Car Scheme (T&C's apply).
  • Working in Children's Social Care does require an applicant who can be proactive or responsive to changing demands and resilient to some of the tough emotional content of the role. However, it is also a role that can bring great reward and job satisfaction.
