About the Role

ANZUK Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Havering seeking a compassionate and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant for an immediate start. This full-time role offers the rewarding opportunity to provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with diverse learning needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties. Key Responsibilities

  • Tailored Support: Provide personalised 1:1 or small-group assistance to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Inclusion: Adapt learning materials and activities to ensure they are accessible and engaging for all learners.
  • EHCP Implementation: Assist in the delivery and monitoring of targets outlined in pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Wellbeing: Support pupils' social, emotional, and physical needs, including de-escalation and positive behaviour management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals like speech therapists.

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting.
  • Demonstrate a patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Be confident in managing challenging behaviours with a calm and resilient attitude.
  • Have knowledge of specific SEND conditions or relevant training (e.g., Makaton, PECS, or Team-Teach).
  • Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of vulnerable children.
