SEND Sensory Teacher

As SEND Sensory Teacher, you will:
+ Plan, deliver and evaluate a personalised Sensory Curriculum.
+ Develop learning around individual pupil starting points, needs and EHCP outcomes.
+ Create purposeful sensory learning experiences that develop communication, cognition, physical development, regulation and independence.
+ Adapt teaching approaches, resources, the environment and pace of learning to individual sensory profiles.
+ Use structured routines, repetition, anticipation, sensory cues and responsive interaction to support engagement and learning.
+ Assess, track and evidence progress from individual starting points.
+ Develop and review personalised learning plans and contribute to EHCP Annual Reviews.
+ Embed communication approaches, including visual communication and AAC where appropriate.
+ Work closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist professionals, including Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists.
+ Lead and model effective sensory teaching practice within the classroom.
+ Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
+ Maintain a calm, structured and sensory-aware learning environment., The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This is a specialist teaching opportunity for a teacher with proven experience delivering a Sensory Curriculum to pupils with complex SEND.
The school provides a highly supportive and personalised learning environment for pupils with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will play an important role in developing meaningful learning experiences that support communication, engagement, regulation, cognition, independence and wider personal development., We are looking for a qualified teacher who has genuine, practical experience of sensory-led teaching and has worked with pupils with SEND and complex or profound learning needs.
You should have:
+ QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
+ Proven experience planning and delivering a Sensory Curriculum is an essential requirement.
+ Experience teaching pupils with complex SEND and/or profound learning needs.
+ Experience within a specialist Primary or Secondary setting.
+ Strong understanding of personalised teaching and curriculum adaptation.
+ Experience assessing and evidencing progress from individual starting points.
+ Experience contributing to EHCP processes and personalised learning plans.
+ A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Experience of PMLD, ASD, AAC, sensory processing, positive behaviour support, regulation approaches and multi-disciplinary working would be particularly valuable.
