Full Job Description

Quantum Scholars is recruiting SEND Learning Support Assistants to support students accessing a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and wider alternative provision services across Wokingham.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will support students from a range of backgrounds who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education. Some students will be based within a PRU setting, while others will require one-to-one tuition and support at home as they prepare to transition back into education.

The Role

This position combines learning support, mentoring and one-to-one tuition, allowing you to build positive relationships with students and help them achieve successful outcomes.

Students may present with:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Behavioural challenges
Trauma-related difficulties
Anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance
Medical needs
Additional learning needsThis role is particularly well suited to LSAs and TAs who enjoy working closely with students and would like a more varied role than a traditional classroom-based position. Opportunities are available from part-time hours through to full-time timetables.

Responsibilities

Supporting students within a PRU environment
Delivering personalised 1:1 tuition and learning support
Providing mentoring and pastoral support
Building positive, trusting relationships with students
Supporting literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum learning
Assisting students with transitions back into education
Encouraging confidence, engagement and positive behaviours
Recording progress and providing feedback

Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs
A calm, patient and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence supporting students on a one-to-one basis
The ability to adapt to a range of student needs
A commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes
