We are looking for a highly motivated and inspirational individual to join our staff team at South Staffordshire College. The 'Futures' provision is part of the 'bespoke' SEND provision that is based in our purpose built, secure building at Rodbaston and Tamworth (Torc campus) which caters for learners with PMLD, Complex and Moderate learning difficulties, a variety of ASC, ADHD, physical disabilities and many others. The 'CCSL' provision is part of the 'Discrete' SEND provision across three of our mainstream campus; Lichfield, Rodbaston and Tamworth. This allows us to provide a high quality, fully inclusive learning environment for learners with a wide variety of learning difficulties and/or disabilities as a pre-vocational course offer, assisting their transition into the 'mainstream' Vocational areas within the college. This post will be covering a mix of the two provisions.
Due to one of our team going on maternity leave, we wish to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated qualified teacher who can work effectively and imaginatively to provide first class learning experiences for our learners and assist with their preparation to adulthood. We wish to recruit and develop a highly skilled teacher that will work independently as well as within a team to inspire our learners.
Our provision focuses on delivering courses which are designed to support each one of our learners to achieve the best possible outcomes. These range from RARPA to formal qualifications in Pearson BTEC Pre-Vocational study programmes, maths and English (entry level to GCSE).
The timetable for this candidate will include teaching RARPA, maths and English at Entry level (non-qual), as well as the Pearson BTEC qualifications.
You need to be a strong team player with a real desire to help young adults with learning difficulties to realise their potential - experience of working with learners with learning disabilities and/or disabilities, knowledge of the SEND reforms and the Education Health Care Plan process will be an advantage. You will be trained/developed on all the above as part of working and collaborating with the direct teaching team as well as business support teams involved with working with young people with SEND.
What you can expect from us - we care about your wellbeing so have several activities all year that provide support. However, time off is also important. We have a generous holiday scheme, the usual Bank Holidays, an additional 5 days at Christmas and 2 'ME' days (where you can have a day off work and do whatever makes you happy) as well as an additional day on campus spent on wellbeing. We have a range of benefits available to all staff including paid time off for emergencies (designed to support carers) and all our policies are enhanced further than statutory requirements. The College also contributes to your pension at a minimum of 20.9% (we contribute more for people in the Local Government Pension Scheme).
South Staffordshire College is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.
