Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a welcoming and inclusive school in North Shields.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN professional who is passionate about helping children reach their full potential within a supportive UK classroom environment.
The Role
+ Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD.
+ Assist in implementing individual learning and behaviour support plans.
+ Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
+ Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff.
+ Help create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
+ Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
+ Previous experience supporting children with ASD in a UK school or classroom setting.
+ Strong understanding of SEN strategies and autism-friendly approaches.
+ Patient, caring, and adaptable with excellent communication skills.
+ Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
+ Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
+ Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
