Full Job Description
Garstang Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Reception-aged pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The pupil, a lovely little boy with ADHD, occasionally becomes emotionally dysregulated and overwhelmed, requiring consistent, nurturing support within the classroom. This full-time role is based entirely within the classroom setting, supporting the child with learning, emotional regulation, and engagement throughout the school day. Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with SEN in line with their EHCP.
- Support the child's emotional regulation, attention, and engagement in learning activities.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement agreed strategies.
- Encourage positive behaviour and build a trusting, supportive relationship.
- Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and routines.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly ADHD. - A calm, patient, and nurturing approach.
- Ability to support emotional and behavioural needs in a positive manner.
- Reliable, committed, and able to work full-time hours.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply). Desirable:
- Previous experience working in EYFS / Reception.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and individual support plans.
