Full Job Description

As a Teacher, you will plan and deliver high-quality, tailored learning to meet the individual needs of students, often working with small groups or on a 1:1 basis. You will create a safe, supportive and stimulating environment that promotes academic progress, positive behaviour and personal development, while working closely with colleagues and families to ensure a consistent and joined-up approach.,

  • Plan, deliver and assess lessons in line with the school's curriculum and policies, tracking and reporting on student progress
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour plans and personalised learning programmes
  • Create an engaging classroom environment, organising resources and groupings to support effective learning
  • Lead on agreed subjects or areas, coordinating teaching, assessment and reporting across key stages
  • Work effectively with support staff, ensuring they are well briefed and able to provide high-quality support
  • Manage and support behaviour positively, helping students develop independence and self-regulation
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team, maintaining clear communication with colleagues, care staff and families
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and all statutory and school policies are consistently followed, while maintaining accurate records and professional standards

    Experience working with students with autism spectrum conditions and/or those displaying challenging behaviour
  • Experience within an educational setting
  • Confidence in planning, delivering and teaching engaging lessons
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when recording and maintaining information

    Bestwood Village School is a brand-new school in Bestwood Village, Nottingham and will have capacity for 30 pupils and is due to open in September 2024.
