A part of the Cavendish Education Group. About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team in a successful SEN school. You will teach a 50% timetable of English across secondary age groups with 50% timetable of Assistant SENCo responsibilities. The role includes planning and delivering English Lessons from Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 in small, mixed-age classes (usually up to 10 students) and working with a multidisciplinary team to support holistic outcomes. In the Lower Senior School, students follow the National Curriculum adapted to individual needs of the students. In the Upper Senior School, students are working towards qualifications ranging from Entry Level 1 through to English Language GCSE. All SEN teachers at AHS deliver lessons with embedded therapeutic approaches. This is achieved through therapy that is integrated into every aspect of the school day; in lessons, structured daily routines and through interactions between staff and students. Teaching staff receive regular CPD and work closely with our therapy team to ensure therapeutic strategies are consistently and confidently applied. The teacher will also have a caseload of SENCo responsibility to be supervised by the Senior School Lead SENCo. SENCo responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews (including leading meetings), and provision mapping to ensure timely and effective support.
- Liaise with Local Authorities regarding changes to EHCPs, provision, and pupil placements.
- Liaise with parents regarding changes to EHCPs, provision, and pupil placements.
- Oversee the creation, implementation, and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with staff and families.
- Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure personalised support strategies are consistently and effectively applied.
- Be a member of the intervention team and contribute by supporting the planning, delivery and analysis of data of the intervention programmes that align with the identified needs and outcomes in pupils' EHCPs.
- Lead on the completion, administration, analysis, and communication of academic standardised assessments for their caseload to inform planning and progress tracking.
- Contribute to staff training and development, helping to build confidence and expertise in SEN education and ensure effective delivery of EHCP provision across the school. About the Applicant We are looking for someone who: Essential
