SEN caseworker

The team is responsible for the delivery of the Local Authority's statutory duties in relation to the assessment, provision and review of children and young people with complex SEN. Working closely with parents and other professionals from schools, health services and social care, the team ensure that the special educational needs of children are met within the context of managing resources fairly and equitably.

The SEN team co-ordinate the statutory assessment and review process, produce Education, Health & Care Plans, identify and commission appropriate provision., As a senior SEN caseworker, you will be responsible for supporting a small team of SEN caseworkers; this involves overseeing the administration of procedures for the assessment, drafting and amending of EHCPs, the placement and review of children and young people (0-25) with SEND and ensuring the EHCPs are of a high quality and meet statutory duties in relation to the Children and Families Act (2014), the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Equality Act (2010). The role is to support the effective day to day operation of the SEN team; you will do this through casework meetings, one to ones, and supporting staff through induction and training opportunities. You will also hold a small but complex caseload, involving attendance at meetings and reviews as necessary, and support the managers and Head of Service by coordinating year groups, annual reviews and transitions as required.
