Second Chef

Alfa Holiday Group has an opportunity for a Second Chef to join the team at Shanklin Hotel, Isle of Wight., As a Second Chef you will work 42 hours per week, including weekends & split shifts with an hourly rate of £15.90, regardless of age! This role is advertised on an hourly rate; however, if preferred, a salary can be discussed and considered as an alternative for the successful applicant.

Being a Second Chef:

As a Second Chef you will work closely with the Head Chef looking after all aspects of a hotel kitchen and deputising on the Head Chefs days off and annual leave. We offer a set menu on a 7-day cycle system for our guests, who are predominately coach customers. The menu is repeated each week with the majority of starters, mains and sweets made in-house using fresh produce.

You will work closely with the kitchen team to deliver a consistent standard of food, where we expect the highest standards of food safety and health and safety within the kitchen environment.

Experience in a similar role Strong communication skills

Understanding of all aspects related to food safety regulations and record keeping

Ability to work under the pressure of a busy kitchen whilst maintaining attention to detail

A passion for delivering high quality consistent plates of food

Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable Skills:

Knowledge of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry

Good eye for detail and passion for the industry

Experience working as a chef in a similar setting would be an advantage
