Full Job Description

Are you passionate about marine conservation and eager to gain hands-on experience in habitat restoration? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Seagrass Trainee to support the delivery of seagrass conservation and restoration projects at South Walney., The Seagrass Trainee will play an important role in supporting seagrass conservation and restoration activities through practical fieldwork, equipment management, volunteer engagement and the day-to-day operation of the seagrass storage facility at South Walney. You will work alongside experienced conservation professionals and gain valuable knowledge and skills in ecological surveying, restoration techniques, data collection and project delivery.,

  • Support the delivery of seagrass conservation and restoration projects.
  • Assist with field surveys, monitoring and habitat assessments.
  • Collect, record and manage ecological data accurately.
  • Help maintain and prepare field equipment and restoration materials.
  • Support the operation and organisation of the seagrass storage facility.
  • Assist with volunteer activities and practical conservation events.
  • Follow health and safety procedures during field and site-based activities.
  • Contribute to project reporting and general administrative tasks as required.

    We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in marine conservation who is enthusiastic, motivated and eager to learn. You will enjoy practical outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You will have a positive attitude, a willingness to get involved in a range of activities, and a keen interest in developing new skills in habitat restoration and conservation. Good organisational skills, reliability and a proactive approach will help you succeed in this role.
