Full Job Description
The primary purpose of the role is to support delivery of the MCA's Strategic Objectives and three-year Business Plan and to develop and implement standards of training and certification in accordance with international conventions and national requirements. The role involves engaging with shipping industry stakeholders, social partners, nautical colleges and other training establishments in the UK and abroad over same. In addition, the role will provide project management of the Modernisation of seafarer training (including digitised assessments) and interfaces with our Training Providers, the development of training and certification to support the fishing industry, future shipping technologies and innovations, and other activities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of seafarers and all those working in the maritime environment. The Seafarer Examiners and Technical delivery team are undergoing significant change journey, and this role will also be instrumental in identifying opportunities and driving forward the implementation of efficiencies from a comprehensive transformation programme, whilst maintaining service standards. This position provides a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and professional individual to join the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and help modernise and drive the delivery of seafarers training and standards. This role offers lots of engagement and collaborative working with a variety of stakeholders as well as the opportunity to build on any previous experience and knowledge in the maritime industry. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Manage modernisation of projects working with stakeholders to improve and advance the UK's seafarer training system to deliver the next generation of seafarers to meet the needs of global industry. + Ensure an effective working relationship between MCA technical staff, who will chair the modernisation projects including but not limited to Cadet Training & Modernisation Programme, the National Correspondence Group - MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships), AEPC (Approved Electric propulsion Course) and the Restricted Deck CoC working group. + Ensure consistency of training modernisation projects undertaken across the team. + Provide link to MCA communications team to ensure effective communication of stakeholder engagement activities and project successes. + Manage the Projects Administrator, ensuring the MCAs "Managing Others" policies are properly implemented. You will be a motivated and driven individual who holds one of the relevant qualifications outlined in the Role Profile.
