Full Job Description

  • Develop, optimise, and validate analytical methods, with a focus on LC-MS-based workflows
  • Design and develop extraction approaches, including sample preparation techniques to achieve results
  • Configure, operate, troubleshoot, and optimise LC-MS instrumentation to generate high-quality analytical data
  • Analyse and interpret complex scientific data, using your expertise to identify trends, resolve issues, and support decision-making
  • Support innovation projects across the business, working closely with teams to develop and improve analytical capabilities
  • Balance your workload effectively, prioritising different projects and delivering high-quality outputs within agreed timelines
  • Produce clear scientific documentation, including technical reports, validation summaries, and project updates
  • Present scientific findings and project outcomes confidently to internal teams and external customers
  • Support customer discussions by providing scientific insight, explaining analytical approaches, and contributing to technical solutions
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping enhance laboratory processes, methods, and ways of working
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all work is completed in line with ISO 17025 requirements and quality standards

  • A degree in Chemistry or a relevant scientific field
  • Experience working in a busy analytical laboratory environment, ideally within a commercial testing or contract laboratory setting
  • Strong practical experience with LC-MS instrumentation, including method development, optimisation, troubleshooting, and validation is crucial
  • Experience developing extraction methods and sample preparation workflows
  • Knowledge of chromatography techniques and analytical method validation principles
  • Able to interpret complex analytical data and communicate scientific findings clearly
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines in a busy environment
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience producing technical reports and scientific documentation
  • Confidence presenting scientific information to a range of audiences, both internally and externally
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team while independently managing your own workload
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 accreditation standards and quality systems
  • Experience with GC-MS/MS, high-resolution accurate mass (HRAM) analysis, or anti-doping/supplement testing would be advantageous but is not essential., Passion
