Full Job Description
We are seeking to appoint a Science Technician to cover maternity leave in our Secondary School and Sixth Form team from 1st September 2026 until 2nd July 2027. The Role: To provide technical support services to the Science Faculty, including the preparation of materials, setting up and clearing away of equipment for class practical sessions and maintaining equipment for use. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Relevant qualifications in Science which must be at least to A level standard.
- The ability to organise the preparation and construction of materials and equipment for use in lessons.
- Able to work as support to teachers in lessons as appropriate.
- Ability to undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes.
- Ability to organise the use of display space within the department as directed by the Head of Faculty.
- Provide support to Science Technician colleagues. This is a Term Time only role. Hours: 37.5 hours per week Grade 5 Scale Point 6 FTE Salary: £21,968 Actual Salary: £25,989 Hourly Rate: £13.33 Pay review pending 1st September 2026 A Support Staff application form is available on our website and must be sent along with a covering letter to arrive by noon on Wednesday 24th June 2026 to mdjohn@qegsblackburn.com.
