Working closely with the Senior Science Technician and teaching staff, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons across the science curriculum, with particular responsibility for supporting A Level Physics. You will help ensure that laboratories are safe, well organised and fully equipped, enabling students to engage confidently in practical scientific work. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and setting up apparatus, equipment and materials for practical lessons and examinations.
  • Supporting the delivery of practical science activities and demonstrations.
  • Maintaining, repairing and organising laboratory equipment and resources.
  • Monitoring stock levels and arranging purchases where required.
  • Supporting the safe storage, transportation and disposal of chemicals and scientific materials.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Providing technical advice and specialist support for post-16 Physics courses.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of practical resources and facilities within the department.

We are looking for someone who is methodical, proactive and able to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. Candidates should have experience working in a laboratory setting, excellent organisational skills, a strong awareness of laboratory safety, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting science education. An A Level qualification (or equivalent) in a science subject is essential.
