Full Job Description

As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science Department by preparing resources, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and well-organised learning environment. You will work closely with teachers and students, contributing to the smooth running of practical lessons and helping to foster a love of science.,

  • Maintain, store, and safely dispose of materials and chemicals in line with health and safety regulations
  • Support teachers and students during practical lessons, providing guidance on the safe and effective use of equipment
  • Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs of science equipment
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, order resources as required, and maintain accurate inventories
  • Ensure laboratories and preparation rooms are kept tidy, safe, and well organised
  • Support the implementation of health and safety policies and complete relevant risk assessments
  • Perform duties and attend meetings as reasonably required
  • Participate in the school's performance management scheme
  • Undertake in-service training where required and share skills and expertise with colleagues
  • Contribute to the school's pastoral system
  • Observe and implement current school policies and best practice
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the school
  • Carry out any other duties reasonably directed by the Headteacher

    We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and passionate about science education.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
