Full Job Description
The core purpose of the role is to provide full technician support to teaching staff particularly in the preparation of equipment, chemicals, specimens and other resources for class practical work, demonstrations, assessments and examinations.Supporting the wider functioning of the faculty and physics, chemistry and biology subject areas.Consult with teaching staff across the faculty to ensure delivery of the necessary support to facilitate high-quality teaching and learning in science.Support a collaborative and supportive ethos across the faculty and more widely across the academy., Responsibilities of the post holder will be in accordance with the Science Technician job description.
The successful applicant should have qualifications in Maths and English at minimum C grade GCSE (grade 4) or equivalent Level 2 qualification. It is also essential that the applicant is educated to A level standard of education or equivalent.
Applicants should be hardworking, enthusiastic and have a high level of commitment and ability to focus on fostering the teaching and learning and personal development of Year 7 to 13 students.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people. All positions will involve appropriate checks and clearances.
The hours of work required for the role are 37 hours per week, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Monday - Thursday) and 8.00 am - 3.30 pm on (Friday) with 30 minutes unpaid lunch, term time only.
Annual salary will be in accordance with the Academy's Support Staff Pay Scale, which for appointment for a full-time post currently involves a salary of Band 3, Point 17 in the range of point 17-25 with an actual starting salary of £20,818.29 per annum (2026/27 pay awards pending).
