Wellington School is seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational Science Teacher to join our thriving Science Department from January 2027. This fixed-term role is available until 31st August 2027 and offers the opportunity to teach across the 11-16 age range, including a combination of KS3, GCSE and BTEC Science classes. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), this is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative department committed to delivering outstanding outcomes and fostering a love of Science. About the role You will teach a range of Science classes across Key Stage 3 and GCSE, alongside some Level 2 BTEC Applied Science. Working closely with colleagues across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, you will support pupils in achieving their full academic potential while contributing to the wider life of the School. As a Teacher and Tutor, you will play an important role in providing excellent pastoral care and supporting pupils' wellbeing, development and success both inside and outside the classroom. Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching engaging and challenging Science lessons across KS3 and GCSE
- Delivering some Level 2 BTEC Applied Science teaching
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing effective support and intervention
- Contributing to the development and review of departmental schemes of learning
- Supporting academic enrichment opportunities, including clubs, competitions and educational visits
- Providing pastoral support as a Tutor and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Science Department
- Contributing positively to the School's extensive co-curricular programme
- Upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and child welfare Required Skills & Experience: The successful candidate will be a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher with a passion for Science education and a commitment to helping every pupil succeed. The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- The ability to teach Science across the 11-16 age range
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for delivering engaging lessons
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- The ability to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils of all abilities
- A commitment to high academic standards and continuous improvement
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
