Full Job Description

We require an ambitious, intellectually rigorous Science Teacher to deliver high-quality biology, chemistry, and physics instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves facilitating a challenging, concepts-first academic curriculum while leveraging practical laboratory work to foster deep scientific inquiry, analytical reasoning, and academic mastery.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver highly structured, evidence-based science lessons that challenge pupils across all technical and academic abilities.
Practical Laboratory Leadership: Coordinate and execute safe, engaging practical experiments, ensuring pupils master foundational laboratory techniques, scientific data collection, and safety protocols.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Implement rigorous formative and summative assessment routines, utilising pupil tracking data to design sharp, targeted interventions that bridge learning gaps.
Examination Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal GCSE combined and triple science specifications, maximising progress outcomes for all learners.
Pastoral Care Integration: Undertake full form tutor responsibilities, managing daily registration, monitoring pupil attendance, and delivering the school's structured personal development units.
ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE
Academy Framework: Operating within a forward-thinking multi-academy trust, our academy benefits from centralised operational support, collaborative network planning, and robust professional development pathways designed to accelerate teacher growth.
Behaviour Systems: The campus implements highly consistent, school-wide behaviour routines that maintain a quiet, respectful, and orderly atmosphere, ensuring classrooms and science laboratories remain calm, predictable, and safe environments for complex learning.

Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in a core scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress outcomes in terminal public examinations through explicit, highly engaging instruction.
Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour policies with absolute consistency, maintaining a positive, highly focused, and strictly disciplined workshop and classroom culture.

Metropolitan Innovation Hub: Based in Birmingham, the school operates within a vibrant, culturally diverse city at the heart of the West Midlands, rapidly expanding as a major national centre for life sciences, clinical research, and digital healthcare innovation.
Connectivity: The area offers premier urban transit links, providing efficient commuting options via major motorway networks (M5, M6, M42) and exceptional rail services running through Birmingham New Street, Snow Hill, and Moor Street stations.
