About the Departments
Our Science department is a large eclectic mix of staff ranging from ECTs to those who have been teaching for over twenty years. We pride ourselves on having high expectations and aspirations for all of our students while delivering fun and engaging lessons. The team has a great rapport and is fully supportive of each other and is welcoming to all newcomers. We have secured the above national outcomes for a number of years and are always looking for ways to be creative and inventive in our approach to teaching.
We have 12 fully equipped labs with most staff having their own lab, and we also have a Post 16 centre where there are an additional 6 labs. Staff can teach in their specialisms or cover the full range of sciences. We are fully supportive and will work with you to ensure you feel part of the team and are offered the CPD to enable you to thrive.
Design and Technology at Outwood Academy Valley is a practical, valuable and hugely popular subject. It enables students to actively contribute to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of themselves, within our community. It teaches how to take risks and so become more resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable. Students develop a critical understanding of the impact of design and technology on daily life and the wider world. Additionally, it provides excellent opportunities for students to develop and apply value judgements of an aesthetic, economic, moral, social, and technical nature both in their own designing and when evaluating the work of others.
The Academy wishes to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic subject specialist who will engage with our ethos which places students first. Being a committed and imaginative teacher you will support the rapid and on-going developments within the faculty as we strive to improve attainment across the academy.
Applications are invited from both experienced and recently appointed teachers who wish to develop their career within a fast-moving environment.
