Full Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic School Secretary to join our team! The ideal candidate will possess a blend of customer service and admin skills, with a strong background in being successful working in an office based environment. This role requires effective communication and time management abilities to assist successful front office function and support our parents & students. Our School Secretary will work closely with the rest of the team and other departments to develop the function and support our school ethos and goals. The hours for the role are: Part Time - 28.5 Hours per week Term Time Plus 15 days Tuesday - 08:30-16:30 Wednesday - 09:00-18:00 Thursday - 08:30-16:30 Friday - 13:00-18:00 Outside Term Time - 08:00-16:00 Please note these hours are fixed and candidates are required to be able to undertake them in their entirety. Duties Indicative Duties are but not limited to:
- Be the welcoming first point of contact for parents, pupils, staff and visitors, delivering a professional and responsive front-office service in a busy school environment.
- Manage a wide range of administrative tasks, including school communications, event and trip administration, calendar updates, stationery procurement, and postal services.
- Provide day-to-day support to staff and students, handling enquiries, coordinating school activities, assisting with trips and events, and ensuring the smooth running of office operations.
- Support safeguarding, attendance and health & safety processes by maintaining accurate registers, raising concerns through appropriate systems, and helping to promote a safe and supportive school environment. The Person Based onsite four days a week, with occasional event commitments, the successful candidate will support the team in delivering an impactful customer, parent, and student experience that enhances the school's brand, reputation, and vision. Working across multiple platforms and tasks, you will ensure that our front office provision is consistent, high-quality, and accurate, while maintaining an exceptional customer experience. A desirable candidate will have:
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as a team, being supportive to colleagues and delegating, as necessary.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to always act with discretion
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong ICT skills and a readiness to use new technologies
- Strong background in administration
- The ability to liaise professionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to work accurately at speed and under pressure
- A knowledge of and interest in working in a school environment.
- Admin & customer service experience Hours of work: Permanent, Term Time Plus 15 weeks, Part Time. Set times of 08:30-16:30 Remuneration: £30,232.56 FTE £19,695.24 Actual We still reserve the right to interview as suitable candidates are sourced.
