Full Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated School Counsellor to provide high-quality therapeutic support to students across Bradley Stoke Community School and Patchway Community School. This is a part-time role (13.5 hours per week), with time split between both sites (7 hours per week at Bradley Stoke and 6.5 hours per week at Patchway). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, helping them to develop resilience, manage challenges, and achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one counselling sessions to students in a safe and confidential environment
  • Support pupils with a range of emotional and mental health needs, including anxiety, stress, and behavioural challenges
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding teams, pastoral staff, and senior leaders
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with safeguarding and data protection requirements
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies as appropriate
  • Contribute to the wider wellbeing and safeguarding provision across both schools, We recognise that candidates may choose to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools when preparing their application.     We are looking for a candidate who:
  • Holds a recognised counselling qualification (e.g. Level 4 or above)
  • Is a member of a professional body (e.g. BACP or equivalent) or working towards accreditation
  • Has experience working with children and/or young people, ideally within an educational setting
  • Demonstrates strong communication, empathy, and professional boundaries
  • Can work flexibly across two school sites
  • Has a good understanding of safeguarding practices and procedures
