Full Job Description
The Speech and Language Therapy Advanced Practitioner will provide strategic clinical and system leadership across Education, SEND and Inclusion within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR). This new role will strengthen the health workforce contribution to education and support SEND reform through partnership working across health, education and local authority services.
Working with the Integrated Care Board, local authorities, community health services, parent and carer forums, early years settings, schools, colleges and universities, the postholder will lead improvement in speech, language and communication outcomes for children and young people. Key responsibilities include improving access to evidence-based support and specialist expertise, increasing capacity for prevention, early identification and intervention, supporting workforce development, and using data and evaluation to inform sustainable solutions.
The postholder will provide advanced leadership across the four pillars of practice: clinical care, leadership, education and research, while exercising a high degree of professional autonomy to improve outcomes across LLR.
The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland SEND Partnership is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapy Advanced Practitioner to support our SEND improvement programme and improve outcomes for children and young people aged 0-25 years.
This exciting role has been developed in response to national SEND reforms and offers an excellent career development opportunity for a therapist with extensive expertise in speech, language and communication needs across early years, community settings, schools and colleges. Working across education, health and care, you will provide leadership and influence system-wide improvement to strengthen speech, language and communication practice within the children's workforce.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of building effective multi-agency relationships, working across partnerships and leading service improvement. You will be committed to co-production, ensuring the voices of children, young people and families are central to planning, delivery and evaluation. Excellent communication, influencing and evaluation skills are essential, together with a passion for inclusion and improving outcomes for young people with SEND.
