Parkway Medical Group has an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to join our friendly and forward thinking GP practice. The post is for 6 sessions per week, ideally working Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays however working pattern can be negotiated. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well respected, enthusiastic practice in a popular suburban area of Newcastle. We are a teaching practice and there is opportunity for involvement with teaching should the applicant wish.Main duties of the job Undertakes face to face appointments, telephone calls, home visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion as required. Screens patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.About us We pride ourselves in being:

- Sessions contain 15 minute appointments with allocated time for admin and home visits

- Geared towards reducing GP workload with support from an experienced and dedicated Leadership and admin team that includes Medical Secretaries and a Data/Workflow team.
- Fully engaged with Newcastle Outer West Primary Care Network. PCN Group comprising of 6 like-minded GP Practices with a total patient population of 40,000 +
- Expanding PCN employed staff, currently including First Contact Physiotherapists, First Contact Mental Health Workers, Frailty team, a Clinical Pharmacy team and Social Prescribers and Care Coordinators.
- TPP SystmOne clinical system and Ardens templates
- Members of a Pharmacy Hub team, Making professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred internally within the Practice. Receives patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and makes assessment of their health care needs. Consults with patients in the surgery, at home visits and via telephone or on-line mechanisms as agreed between the practice GPs. Undertakes telephone calls, home visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion as required. Screens patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, develops care plans for health. Provides counselling and health education as necessary. Admits or discharges patients and refers them to other care providers internally and externally as appropriate and in line with practice protocols. Complies with all relevant clinical governance and Practice polices and protocols. Assists in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions. Completes clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service. Records clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning, and audit and effectiveness to ensure evidence based best practice. Provides active input to the wider Primary healthcare team in the process of health needs research/base line data collection/clinical audit. Compiles and issues computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions, prescribing in accordance with the Practice/ CCG prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate. Meets professional learning and CPD requirements. Develops effective relationships with other colleagues.
