Full Job Description

  • Managing a diverse patient background across all age groups
  • Face-to-face, video, electronic and telephone consultations
  • Issuing and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Clinical triage and participation in the duty GP rota
  • Occasional home visits for housebound frail elderly and palliative patients, we do benifit from a PCN paramedic home visiting service.
  • Participating in clinical meetings and quality improvement work
  • Supporting the teaching and supervision of medical students and GP trainees, The post-holder will manage a proportional caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
  • Clinical Responsibilities: In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make himself/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including F2F consultations, telephone consultations answer e- consults, triage calls, triage visits, action test results and requesting appropriate tests for patients checking and signing of acute and repeat prescriptions and dealing with any self-generated paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion. Respond to medical problems presented by regular and temporary residents as required. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organization. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions. Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary / HIOW Formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate. Participate in training plans of GP trainee and medical students as required. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Maintaining, monitoring and updating computer database and management of medical records and practice audits Ensure that practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services. Appropriate use of read codes.
