Safeguarding Officer Ernest Bevin Academy, Tooting, London Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Term Time Only (39 weeks), Full-time Salary: United Learning Support Staff Pay Scale Safeguard, support and empower every student Ernest Bevin Academy is seeking to appoint a committed, vigilant and compassionate Safeguarding Officer to join our dedicated pastoral and safeguarding team. As we enter our centenary year, this is a vital opportunity to play a leading role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of all students. About the role You will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams and external agencies to promote a strong culture of safeguarding across the school. The role involves identifying, monitoring and responding to safeguarding concerns, supporting vulnerable students and families, and ensuring all safeguarding processes are followed effectively and consistently. We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people in a safeguarding, pastoral or education setting
- Has a strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures
- Is calm, professional and able to handle sensitive situations with discretion
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Can build effective relationships with students, families and external agencies
- Is highly organised and able to maintain accurate and confidential records
- Is committed to promoting student wellbeing and safety Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns within the school
- Supporting the identification, referral and monitoring of safeguarding and welfare issues
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date safeguarding records
- Liaising with external agencies and professionals as required
- Supporting students and families to access appropriate support services
- Contributing to safeguarding training and awareness across the school
- Working closely with pastoral teams to support vulnerable students
- Ensuring safeguarding procedures and policies are consistently followed Safeguarding All applicants will be required to undertake appropriate safeguarding and background checks.
