Full Job Description

Lancashire Constabulary is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Crime Scene Investigation Supervisor to lead and support the delivery of professional crime scene investigation services across the force.
This is not a comprehensive list of all the tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken., Ensure the effective management and operation of the Crime Scene Investigation Team. Provide proactive leadership and direction, ensure that staff welfare, attendance management, recruitment, discipline, grievance handling, equal opportunity and other Human Resource management issues are managed in an open and transparent manner, seeking advice from the Human Resource Department as required.
Ensure CSI staff within the team maintain competence & performance standards across all relevant disciplines to ensure the achievement of Departmental, Divisional and Constabulary objectives though effective use of the PDR system & competence frameworks.
Prepare statements, attend court and give evidence in accordance with legislation. To quality assure statements & reports of other staff within the CSI Unit. Provide and support court debriefs when staff within the CSI Unit attend court to give evidence.
Effectively undertake the role of Crime Scene Manager and Crime Scene Co-ordinator as required, taking part in the CSM on-call rota. Provide a service to, and liaise closely with, investigating officers by offering specialist advice regarding crime scenes and forensic strategies, in order to exploit the full potential of forensic evidence in criminal investigations., Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting prior to commencing their role. Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency required for Management Vetting.
The successful candidate will be required to work in accordance with the attached rota.
Candidates will be required to prepare and deliver a presentation as part of the interview process. The topic will be issued prior to the interview to ensure adequate preparation time.
Upon successful appointment as per the job specification, you will be required to provide your DNA for elimination purposes, this will be held against the Contamination Elimination Database (CED).
Please note, candidates successful at shortlisting will be required to undertake an assessment as part of the interview process.

Demonstrable Crime Scene Manager Experience
Successfully completed Crime Scene Investigation stage 1 & stage 2 courses
'A' Level qualification or equivalent in a scientific discipline relating to Crime Scene Investigation (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Photography)
Full UK Manual Driving Licence
Willing to undertake and pass the Constabulary Basic Driver Assessment prior to driving a Constabulary vehicle
Able to lift and carry equipment appropriate to the job
