MCS are seeking to appoint a part-time Rowing Coach to join as soon as possible and to continue throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. Further details of the position and working hours can be found in the attached job pack.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Take a keen interest in the welfare of pupils and show clear commitment to safeguarding children;
- Be a well-qualified rowing coach who is looking to coach in a successful rowing programme and work within an outstanding Sports Department at a leading independent school;
- Have experience of either rowing or coaching at a high level;
- Have excellent written and spoken communication skills and communicate effectively with pupils, parents, staff and the local community;
- Have sound IT skills;
- Have the ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a wider team;
- Display a high level of attention to detail;
- Be willing to take part in continuing professional development;
- Respond positively to feedback.
Responsibilities of the Role
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Showing clear enthusiasm for coaching Rowing, and planning and delivering engaging sessions from Year 8 to Year 13 (although the role is anticipated to focus more on Years 11-13);
- Displaying a high level of organisation and enthusiasm for excellence in sport and widening participation;
- Communicating effectively with pupils, parents, staff and the local community;
- Showing enthusiasm for sport and understanding of sport as part of a thriving extra-curricular provision;
- Displaying a positive, cheerful and caring attitude, supporting colleagues, taking sports teams, and being involved in all aspects of school life;
- Ideally, holding a full, clean driving license with the ability and willingness to drive minibuses and vehicles with trailers.
The Rowing Coach will report to the Lead Rowing Professional and the Director of Sport, and ultimately to the Master, for the proper discharge of duties. Interviews will take place the week commencing Monday 14th September. Applications submitted with only a CV will be automatically rejected.
Salary: £25.00 per hour
