Are you an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist passionate about developing your knowledge and skills in providing Community Speech and Language Therapy Services for Adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 permanent rotation post between the Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Team and the Community Integrated Neuro and Stroke Service (CINSS) and are looking for an enthusiastic therapist to work within our team.
The Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Team is a small, dedicated team providing patient-centred assessment, advice and treatment to adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties across Coventry. We have excellent relationships with our Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy and Dietetic colleagues in our Planned Community Services and work closely with specialist colleagues in the Parkinson's Disease and Motor Neurone Disease MDTs. You would have the opportunity to work with SLTs specialising in progressive neurology, voice and dysfluency. We offer home visits, clinic-based appointments and attendance at the MDT clinics at UHCW across our dysphagia, communication, voice and dysfluency caseloads., The CINSS Team is a team of multidisciplinary therapists who deliver a rehabilitation service to people following Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Brain tumours or other acute neurological diagnoses. You will have the opportunity to offer regular goal focused therapy intervention for communication and dysphagia alongside colleagues from the MDT. Rehabilitation is offered in the patient's own home or can be provided in a clinic setting.
We will support your development through Band 5 NQP and dysphagia competencies across both teams, and you will be able to access peer supervision from your colleagues already on the rotation.
+ To provide speech and language therapy assessment, treatments and review for patients referred into the services with acquired communication, voice and swallowing needs. This will be for patients predominantly in their place of residence but will include clinic and other settings.
+ To provide expert advice and guidance to patients, carers, health and social care professionals from across multiple providers internal and external to the organisation.
+ To be involved in service developments in order to provide the best service to our patient

+ To complete Royal College of Speech & Language Therapy newly qualified practitioner (NQP) competencies.
+ To provide evidence-based therapy assessment and appropriate therapeutic intervention to patients referred to the service.
+ Follow defined stroke and neurological care pathways and other relevant rehabilitation pathways as directed by line management.
+ To liaise closely with members of the interdisciplinary team and wider multidisciplinary team as required, facilitating effective caseload management
+ To utilise skill and knowledge to manage a complex caseload under a robust supervision structure appropriate to the post holders banding and level of skill.
+ To have general knowledge of a variety of conditions and understand the impact of multi pathological presentation.
+ To utilise a comprehensive range of evidenced based specialist assessments and treatment to patients with communication impairments in their own home or in a clinic environment.
+ To identify eating, drinking and swallowing problems and seek second opinion/refer on to SLT colleagues as appropriate.
+ To support SLT colleagues with management of dysphagia under guidance of appropriately trained senior therapists.
+ To empower others to support adults with communications difficulties.
+ To utilise evidenced based appropriate outcome measures with patients in their own home or in a clinic environment
+ To assist in the quality and activity monitoring systems, to support evaluation of effectiveness of the service.
+ To assist in the maintenance and development of the service.
