- Provide detailed technical and production support, ensuring accurate reporting of operational status across production and performance functions.
- Support the delivery of trains in line with safety, reliability, environmental and presentation standards, while meeting contractual obligations.
- Carry out fault diagnosis, repairs and modifications to rolling stock, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
- Undertake fault finding and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Support condition monitoring activities and manually monitored systems across train fleets.
- Perform secondary checks of colleagues' work in accordance with the four-eyes principle.
- Answer technical questions from colleagues and client representatives.
- Provide technical support and feedback to RAMS/Performance Engineers and depot production teams.
- Identify and assess risks, proposing mitigation measures in line with relevant legislation and company standards.
- Review and summarise faults, failures and corrective actions undertaken by depot teams.
- Mentor and support members of the production team.
- Produce high-quality technical and operational reports relating to defects, failures and performance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of improved systems and ways of working across the business.
- Adhere to all health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Determine work priorities in consultation with Production Managers, using technical knowledge and operational experience.
- Take ownership of ongoing professional development, both technical and non-technical.
Extensive engineering experience within rolling stock maintenance. - Experience troubleshooting and resolving rail performance issues.
- Strong fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of modern technical systems and fault-finding techniques.
- Experience conducting root cause investigations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics., Completed a recognised apprenticeship to City & Guilds/BTEC level with a mechanical, electrical or electronic bias.
- NVQ Level 5 qualification or equivalent proven experience., Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex technical data.
- Experience supporting or managing small teams.
- Ability to mentor and guide colleagues.
- Effective communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
